About

One drafter, every sheet.

Dennison Drafting & Design is Molly Dennison. She takes the job, measures the house, draws the set and answers the plan reviewer — so the person who picked up the phone is the person holding the pencil, and nothing gets handed to a junior halfway through.

The short version

Why drafting, and why here.

Molly started out inside a design-build outfit, drawing whatever the crew needed next. The sets that came in from outside were the problem: dimensions that did not add up, a framing plan that contradicted the elevation, details copied from a house that was not this one. The framer found it, the inspector found it, and somebody paid for it twice.

So the business is built around not doing that. One drafter on the job from the measurement to the resubmittal. A set that is cross-referenced, so a dimension only exists once and cannot disagree with itself. A promised date given before the builder commits to their client, not after.

Muskegon is home, and on this work being local is not sentiment. Every building department runs its own counter — what they want submitted, how long review actually takes, which comment is a real code issue and which is a preference. Molly has sets approved across West Michigan and knows the difference, which is worth more to a builder than another line on a software list.

Residential only, and that is a choice rather than a limit. No commercial, no structural engineering, no stamp — when a job needs one, she says so early and points you at someone who can give it. What she does is the set: drawn once, dimensioned properly, and revised without an argument.

Credentials & software

The small print, since you will check it.

Drawn in

AutoCAD for the construction set, Chief Architect for the model, SketchUp for renderings. Files come back in whatever you asked for, not whatever the software saved last.

Code & scope

Every set is checked against the Michigan Residential Code before it goes to the counter. Molly is a drafter, not a licensed architect or engineer — work that needs a stamp gets referred out before it is quoted, never after.

Delivered as

PDF for review and the permit office, DWG if your engineer or truss supplier needs it, and plot-ready sheets at 24 × 36. The drawings are yours once the job is paid.

The mark

A houndstooth whose tooth is a house.

Drafting is pattern work — the same details, drawn correctly, over and over — and the one house picked out in plum is the one that is yours.

Send over what you have

A sketch on graph paper, a Pinterest board, a survey, or last year’s set that needs updating. Send it across and you’ll get a scope and a number back — not a sales call.
